Bearcat are you a hunter?
I find it odd that marksmanship is not listed. I have seen more people quit hunting because of making poor shot placement, and then having to finish off a wounded animal and hear it scream as you get close to it.
I taught all 5 of my sisters to shoot, two can shoot better then their husbands. Only one ever went hunting with me and quit after wounding a rabbit with a .22 rifle. I taught a step daughter too shoot and hunt small game. She went on a hunting trip with her husband and 4 of his friends, she got the only deer in 3 days of hunting. It upset me that her husband refused to clean her deer or even teach her how, she doesn't go hunting with her husband anymore only her brother, I wonder why.
I know quite a few women hunters on our rez, well at least a dozen and 3 women I work with. I plan on teaching my daughter to shoot, hunt and fish.

Am I a hunter ... ???
Can I hunt … ? Hmmm …
Well … I can shoot. And, I only shoot to kill.
heheheheheh
No wait – I take that back … I like skeet shooting [pretend to be still killing pigeons, only it is clay pigeons … lol ] and target practice – gun or bow. Or throwing hawk, or … darts. J Even pretty good at throwing a 22 oz hammer … shhhh, do not tell !
Now if’n I could kill small game by throwin’ a rock, like the old time ndn women, that would save $ on ammo. Guess I just need to practice more!!! BTW, my mom has been known to be pretty dangerous with a sling-shot, and she ain’t even ndn!
Let me say I love to hunt, and fish. Just have not been doin’ enough of either, lately. Hey, right now – they are bringin’ me venison … and if’n they bring me anymore and I am gonna have to buy a freezer! And I am broke, as always …
True story – I took a hunter safety course when I was in junior high school, my older brother was taking it so he could go out hunting alone without an adult [in WI] at age 14, instead of 16. Well, being a year and a half younger than him [but we were in the same grade] I took it too. There were 30 students – 27 white boys, my brother, me and a white girl. I think it was like a 10-week course. Then came the final test, three parts – a written test, a practical safety carry of our firearm over an obstacle course and target shooting. Well, we two girls were the only two in the class who got 100% on the written test. Then I was the only one who got 100% on the practical part, and to finish it all off I was the only one hit a bull’s eye and [with a borrowed gun. ~Nice 22~] Ok, them guys in my class [including my brother] did not speak to me for more than 4 or 5 weeks. They finally got over it. Still, I felt bad … lesson learned – ok, let the dudes win … lol
I still remember what they taught us … it was … oh, yeah …
1 always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
2 treat every gun as if it were loaded
3 be sure of you target and beyond
Or was it –
Oh my honor I will do my duty to god and my country and obey the boyscout law … heheheh –
Oh my, maybe I did hang around my brothers and their friends way too much -
Yeah, I was in girlscouts, only ‘cause they would not let me in boyscouts. lol
And I do not mind cleanin' or cookin' fresh game and/or fish ... mmmmm ... IMHO, the only way to live ~and eat!~
I see they must pass a shooting quailification test, but it seems to me it would take 3 days just learning to shoot, and learning to judge distance and become familar with your weapon of choice. I have a buddy who can shoot quarters at a hundred yards, but he has never shot a deer in 20 years of hunting, I asked him once why goes if he never gets anything. He told me has a problem shooting animals just can't, and goes just for the sake of walking in different woods and the champanionship with his friends, and he knows the license fee helps keep habitat for the animals. But he's a hell of a camp cook but doesn't know how to do dishs yet.

Alright I'll be honest too then Bearcat, my wife can throw my throwing knife more accurate then me, and hit a bulls eye two out of three throws.(I had to put that knife away) And once on fathers day we got my Dad a Ruger 10/22. Well my wife wanted a shooting contest and we agreed each person put up one dollar and whom ever got the most bulls eyes out of ten shots at 50 yards got the money. Needless to say she walked away with 6 bucks, but most sickening part is she always has to bring it up. Oh yeah when we were dating she wanted to go fishing and she catches the biggest fish every time we went,God I hate that, especially when she using my equipment.
I use to shoot trap on Grand Island and was challenged by a woman, wasn't sure why but all my team mates said don't do it. I got spanked, she shot 25 out of 25, and me 21 out of 25 the first round and it only got worse on my part in two rounds. Then I find out she was a professional woman trap champion 3 years running, she did buy me a beer though but teased the hell out of me, and still does.

Dang Bearcat and Bubs, you two are great... them stories, whoas the stories are funny
Now Bearcat - you can kill an animal with a rock, just throw it hard and true ;) and got to get you to deer camp one of these days- hehehehe
Bubs, some say a good woman is behind a good man, in my case they are always in front of me, and there I am 'cuse me, 'cuse me...pardon me , thank you :)
But I have never met a woman that can shoot better than I could (what it really means is I have never shot against any women) LOL
RJ, I have been humbled many times by women out shooting me, I learned early not to brag to loud because it sure is hard to swallow them words afterwards, and women are worst then men in heckling you. I just look over my shoulder now and see who within listening distance before I open my big mouth. My one sister could of been on a shooting team, she consitantly shoots bulls eyes without trying. But she hates shooting says it hurts her ears even with plugs, she just does it to piss guys off and she does it very well.
The woman who spanked me at trap is from Six Nation, her and her husband shoot in national AA shoots in Nevada, shooting 500 rounds a day breaking 497 - 500 birds a day.I could break 500 birds if I dropped the box they came in Ha! Ha!

OUCH Dang cut out the lady gun stories.
I don't know if any of you read about Bear and the pistol but I just got a mental picture of Bear behind me with a 9mm and I ducked. Hit my head on the keyboard and now have a bump and blood on the keys. DANG!

yeah if you have'nt heard it... well i went to the shooting range with Rob to break in his new guns and he wanted me to get used to shooting so we could do it together. I really hate handguns and am only a little more comfortable around rifles... so anyhow he hands me the handgun and tells me what to do and helps line me up... then says, ok pull the trigger. I did'nt know the empty shells fly out of those things and it went up in the air and straight back down into my v-neck exposed cleavage where it proceeded to burn the holy heck out of my breasts! It was so surprising and just painful enough I forgot I had a gun in my hand and I'm waving it around while trying to get this hot shell out of my bra... Rob sure grabbed my arm fast and held it out and calmly took it from me and said... that's probably enough for now... you don't uh.. have to shoot anymore if you don't want to.

OUCH!
When I was 18, My uncle Buddy handed me a double barrel shot gun and all the boys were joking, "Women can't fire nutten!" I wasn't looking at the clay pigeon when it let lose. I shot the clay pigeon to my surprise and the boys too. So I actually, looked the next time the other was let out and I got that one too.
Ha Ha! I showed them that women are just as good as men :crown:
