I only went through LA. This was way back in 1969 when I hitched to San Francisco and back. Twice! My son just came back from Santa Cruz and that area looks amazing!
I think I love it because the weather is always 70F-80F!!
I once went there in January and it was 77F all week. I got in the car to go to the beach and no one but surfers were there! Turns out they are "freezing" in LA in Janaury.

It was the same when I lived in Florida. Relatives would come down in the winter and they would be sitting in the sun in their swimsuits and stuff and I would be in jeans and a sweatshirt and it would be like 70!
My son says that the temp in northern Cali where he was stays pretty much around the temps you mentioned, except at night, all year long. That sounds perfect. Also, he sat on the beach and was able to watch Whales and Sea Lions and Otters! How cool is that???

I can't think of anything more traditional than growing your own food and learning to be self-sufficent. I think we all need a reality check that our oil resources are giving out. Our communities need to go back to the old ways to survive in case the worse case scenerio happens.

Sekon, I read this once I believe in Barbara Graymont research, "In the early 17th century the French asked a Haudensauonee Grand Council where they get their souvernty, the response without a word spoken only a gesture was arms extended to show a handful of seeds corn, beans and squash in one hand and a war club in the other hand. It was the implied message we can feed ourself and protect ourselfs, we do not need you (the French).
History has shown that people who depend on others (nations or people) for their food develope extreme dependency on the provider of food. Regaurdless if its a castle seige, town seige or a rez government being forced to comply with a food source provider or monitary exchange for food the choices are limited starve or comply, unless you can feed yourself.
We were given a gift from our creator corn beans and squash we need to use our gifts for several reasons our health, souvernty and as the gaurdians of the earth, a garden is like a indicator of the health of our soil if plants won't grow something is wrong or out of balance and a change is needed.

If you won $100 million tomorrow, what would you do with it?:
I would just do what I alway do. I would use everything I have to help our communities to prosper and share the truth about who we really are; humans. I have planned all my life to do some fun things with my life including:
Start distributing endangered language speech engines to make it easier and affordable for programmers and technology companies to support our endangered languages.
Grow my native owned technology corporation, to employ native people and to give other native communities a chance to prosper from my ground work. Build a high technology park in Mohawk Territory for other communities to go to for support to prosper while bringing their endangered language/culture back to mainstream life for their own community.
Host various competitions for native communities so they can win things they need to help their communities to prosper; win start-up funds for small businesses, win money, etc.
Pay to provide high tech training to native communities; robotics, electronics, engineering, business administration, ecommerce, etc.
Host language and culture field trips. Fluent speakers/translators would take visitors or their own community on field trips meant to promote their own language and culture. learn truthful history of their own community and people.
Pay a native group to continue a high profile media company; they would produce/direct movies, music videos, magazines, and other arts/entertainment/advertising companies to help bring more truthful information to the world about native people and communities of today and yesterday.
Go on an entire week-long vacation with all my friends and family once a year; all together at the same time.
Give a group everything they need to operate a native cyber cafe; friendly bilingual or trilingual mohawk (english, french) talking computers and staff.
Blah blah blah, so much to do.......

I thought of something adventurous that I did...
I helped my step-mom drive a 30 foot RV full of her elderly half siblings and her mother from Kansas City to Virginia and back. I was by far the youngest person on the trip at 28 years old. Grandma Lee was 89. There were 6 others in their 60s, 70s and 80s. It was a great adventure. Our destination was to a cemetary out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains that a distant cousin of theirs had cleaned up and refurbished.
We drove through the Appalacians on Beggars Night. All the kids were out in costumes. The leaves were brilliant!
