Hello to all I am not sure if this is where this post should go,
but anyway,
I was born April 20,1964
In Wayne County General hospital ( its the old Elouise poor house)
I was put up for adoption at birth arrived at my first foster family at 7 days old.
when these people decided that they would indeed try to adopte me, I was removed from the home this was the norm back then.
It was stated on my paper work that I was Catholic and my foster family was prodostant. so Adoption was denied. At Nine months old,
I was moved to anther home in a nearby City.
Meanwhile my case went to court.
Later I was indeed adopted by my first foster family. (A white English family)
but I was not the same happy baby

as time went on these New people tried to Reconect the bonds they had before I was removed.
but it never happened.
My relationship living with these peole was Distant at best.
they never understood my mind, my natural self.
I was never the lttle girly way my adopted mother had hoped for.
in the years my adopted family took in 42 children .never more than 7 at a time,
I was the fourth to arrive and the onlyone to be adopted by these people.
My life living with them was more like a favored employee.
lucky to be in thier family.
I am not bitter or hate these people in anyway.
they are my family for what its worth and lord knows I put them through many gray hair days.
Our Relationship is now scaled back to sending cards and attending funerals/ or weddings.
anyway I have always known that I was approx 1/2 Native and 1/2 polish
I am short stocky dark and strong as a horse.
My native features are very dominant.
I am in the process of searching for my native roots.
and awaiting my nonId from the state of MI.
I am lucky I do know the name I was born with prior to adoption.
so I have a starting point to work with.
But right now it looks like my Native american Side comes from My biological Father.
that might be tough to trace since the laws were so differn't about fathers rights back in the 60s

currently, I make a pilgimage to St Ignace MI every labor Day Weekend to attend the Powwow there.
its like an experience for my children and myself.
We can walk around and Nobody asks us our Nationality.
they just know.
this is a trip that we look forward to all year long.

anyway I have gone on long enough.

Well my search for family is over. I have found them.It turns out that my birth mother is Chippawa& pottawattomi (spelling off) she has already been quizzing me on this.
She is full blooded but leagally she is listed as 1/2 due to a second marraige of her mother. I was given my mothers maiden name. the name from the second marrige
my grandmother comes from wapole island and my mom grew up on the island. My birth father is mexican this combination explains alot of the ethnic look myself and children All have.
Anyway I have 5 other siblings .
I have met my mom one of my sisters and a brother.
I will be meeting my other three sisters in the next couple of weeks.
it has been a rollor coaster and a good feeling is there among all the shock.
turns out I have always lived close by this family.
the wierdest part was that I lived right next door to my aunt and cousins about 20 years ago.
Went to some of the same schools as my cousins too.
it is hard to describe how it is that I can finally state a tribe with roots to back it up.
that is the best feeling of all. finally knowing what I have always known.
I wish anyone else the best in thier own search to find thier own connections and native bloodlines.

Awesome!!!
I have a cousin we just met a few years ago. We'd been searching for her for years, and it turns out she lived about 5 miles away the entire time!!!!

That is so awesome Dwieck!!! (take away two of the t's in your potawatami and you got it LOL) And you did'nt have to go far to meet them either!! I'm so happy for you!!! the wierdest part was that I lived right next door to my aunt and cousins about 20 years ago.
Went to some of the same schools as my cousins too. I bet it feels weird to them too!! I used to get into spats with this one girl from a neighboring town every weekend at the skating rink for years.. and then one year we had this family reunion and found out she was my cousin and that ended the spats.. LOL!

so much to learn, the powow this year is going to be extra special for me and my family.
My older sister is thinking about going with us.
My birth mom is going to help me with my frybread too.
Cause I am just not happy with the way mine comes out.
since I work in the commercial kitchen it might be good to learn it the right way.
