I need to find out when the big Pow Wow blues party is. I can't wait to go! There is going to be a buttload of indians there.

anantas
04-22-2004, 09:35 AM
Have never heard of a butt loaded with indians and it is something I would definitely not want to see. Sounds like a strange powwow/party to me.

Sanj
04-22-2004, 10:34 PM
Not your type of party anantas?

definition

buttload=plenty

Blackbear
04-23-2004, 06:52 PM
buttload/assload.. means a whole bunch LOL

anantas
04-25-2004, 08:14 PM
I understand a whole bunch of indians. They usually do come in bunches. More appropriate would be a whole car load of indians, or perhaps a whole apartment full of indians, a bingo hall load of indians.

How big is that butt? or how small are those indians to give the meaning of plenty?

Sanj
04-26-2004, 03:24 PM
I think people understand what "butt load" means more than "bingo hall load" LOL But you sure love to argue! It's fun!

Are you coming to the picnic anantas?

Blackbear
04-26-2004, 06:10 PM
Hmm.. like that bingo hall load... but buttload just rolls off the tongue LOL... the butt's pretty big I'm sure, with all the frybread that is consumed it should be a mumu sized butt! hey..speaking of frybread, on emeril the other night he was saying this country consumes something like 150 thou. yards of pizza daily.. maybe it was more.. I forget the exact figure.. Made me wonder how many yards of frybread does the indian communities consume in a day ROFLMAO

anantas
04-27-2004, 06:28 PM
buttload rolls off the tongue if you like to talk about that part of life.

Is that square yards of pizza? or pizza pieces laid end to end?

Blackbear
04-27-2004, 06:39 PM
not really sure.. they never really specified.. maybe they meant dough before shaping and baking...

Craig
04-30-2004, 10:44 AM
Well with the eye surgery scheduled and the speakers here and tested there was only one thing left how to get the gear back and forth. That is being taken care of right now. The Taurus is getting a hitch attached as I type. The place I deal with has a neat little uhaul that everything will fit in. ;)

Anyone open for Dinner on Thursday night before the Picnic? (That's Dinner not "Last Chance") :p
I decided that I would drive up the afternoon before the picnic so that what I have is there when Loren arrives. :yesyes:

Hey Craig!

Dinner would be great! Cheyenne and I are flying in Tuesday, so we'll have some time to spend with family. Is this an "adult" dinner (meaning, child-free) or are we doing family style....LOL. I'm up for either!

Not to sure about Mom's choices but I love being around children (as long as they are other peoples :D ) So that I will leave up to you. Children keep me young though I hear they age the parents.

There's a big concert for the Thunder Falls Pow wow the same weekend, so I will probably be there on July 9th. The Blues Hounds (From Cattaraugus Reservation) and the Pappy Johns Band (From Six Nations) will be playing. Jimmy Vaughn is the featured performer, going on last.

Craig

I'm sorry Sanj I know these are your people but someone should kick the ass of the planners of the powwow the Seneca Nation of Indians is planning.

Just curious Craig, which one do you mean?

Blackbear
05-26-2004, 07:05 PM
he's talking a bout the one that is happening same weekend as tuscarora picnic

Craig

Just curious Craig, which one do you mean?

The Thunder Falls Pow wow mostly though both the Thunder Falls Pow wow and the NAIVA Pow wow conflict with events that have been on those dates longer than the SNI Pow wows.

Thunder Falls Pow wow has been scheduled for the same dates as the Tuscarora Picnic and there is no justification for that at all.

The NAIVA Pow wow is the same weekend as Border Crossing but since Border Crossing is only one day it isn't as big an issue. Still both are a slap in the face of Confederacy Nations.

anantas
05-26-2004, 08:57 PM
I thought the NAIVA powwow was originally scheduled (3rd weekend in July) to follow the Champion of Champions powwow. The Champion of Champions planners changed the date and now I think it follows the NAIVA powwow.
The Casino powwow was probably picked to draw the most people. I suspect they did not coordinate with anybody else.

the 8th as in Thursday July 8th, huh? Oh goody! Detail please, anantas ... time and location ... ???

don't know anything about the Niagara Falls powwow but the NAIVA powwow was scheduled for that weekend several years ago for a reason but I forgot what it was. If someone were to check with SNI, I am sure they would be happy to tell why. And yes, Grand River does now follow Salamanca. Thanks for bringing that up because I thought it used to be before Salamanca years ago but wasn't sure.

Someone selling tickets on a blanket metioned this to me. Joanne is supposed to be doing a concert Thursday night at the Salamanca High school to benefit the Friends of the Library. I suspect a donation will be expected. I suppose the concert will be about 7 p.m. or so.

Hi All

The picnic is fast approaching and I wanted to see who planned to make it this year. Craig mentioned making dinner plans for Thursday evening, and I think that is a great idea!!

There are not too many great restaurants in the area, but I have some ideas.

1. Seneca Niagara Casino has 3 good restaurants- a 4 star steak house, a buffet and Morries Place (which is like an upgraded Applebee's)

2. Applebee's in the Town of Niagara

3. The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, where Buffalo Wings originated, but I really don't know where it is located, and I have never been there

4. New York Restaurant, also known as the "New Yorker", GREAT Szechuan Chinese food, the best I've ever had. Niagara Falls, Canada

5. The Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls

6. Planet Hollywood in Niagara Falls, ON

Niagara Falls, Canada has just opened a $1 billion Casino, and I bet they have some good eats there

rjricelny
06-14-2004, 01:45 PM
Sanj, the Anchor bar is on Main Street and north street- not too far from Allen and Main- do you know where the General Hospital on High street - AB is two blocks north- the wings are OK -

Shimshacks???

Sanj
06-14-2004, 02:26 PM
I love going to Shimshacks!

Are you coming to dinner RJ??

Anantas, you are more than welcome to come to dinner too!!

Anyone who will be in town that week, let me know so we can keep you informed

Thank you for the invite but I believe I am expected to be at that Joanne Shenandoah concert. One of those see and be seen situations.

Sanj
06-14-2004, 05:13 PM
Or, we can eat at the Seneca Allegany Casino, and then meet up with Anantas at the show! I've never seen Joanne Shenandoah before, but if I am thinking right, she may have been at a pow-wow signing CDs or something because that name sounds really familiar.

Is anyone making plans for Grand River? I will be there both days, staying up at the Bush with my sister in law hopefully.

well just made a call to the insurance company again to see where we are on my settlement... but she was'nt in and I left a message for her to call me back.. cross your fingers guys and say some prayers cause i really want to come!

Thursday night, right? If not dinner then at least drinks... I drop off and pick up the kids everyday- unless I get a "get out of jail" free card ;)

anantas
06-17-2004, 02:49 PM
Do what you all must. Don't wait up for me. I don't drink; I don't usually do casinos.

Blackbear
06-17-2004, 07:07 PM
I don't think anyone is talking casino for gambling... all we are talking bout is going somewhere after the picnic or that sunday and having a bite to eat... those of us that drink will be bad later on that night and no one is ever forced or guilt tripped into going.

Sanj
06-17-2004, 09:30 PM
Does that mean you are coming out Blackbear??

Is it that time of year to be bad again????

anantas
06-18-2004, 12:40 PM

No guilt trip is in any of those words. Do what you all must. Do not wait to accomodate my needs. I rarely attend casinos even to eat. At the Seneca Niagara I was asked to leave and did not even have the privilege of being rowdy first. I do not plan to frequent the one in Allegany.

rjricelny

Dang... what did you do to deserve (or not) such treatment?

anantas
06-18-2004, 01:05 PM
I was seeking information about the accounting of the casino funds. A "never ask" situation that I thought would be open, foolish me.

rjricelny
06-18-2004, 02:14 PM
Dang, well- I give you credit for asking- I saw an accounting published in the Buffalo News a- they were doing a 4-part series of Senecas and gaming... did you see it?

rjricelny
06-18-2004, 02:28 PM
I just thought of another question too.... and you may consider answering it or - you may sow me the door - but either way- no harm in asking right? What purpose would it serve to have that information???

Just a question of curiosity... you were asking them for accountability...

Its sort of like me asking my employer the same question like where is all the money going- I only get so much- where does the rest go- I think they would show me the door too.... (lol)

nope, wait a minute... it may be like - a constituent asking an elected official where the money - accountablitly is... right- is that it?

Blackbear
06-19-2004, 03:00 AM
does'nt look like it sanj.... and this is upsetting me quite a bit. I've been rather moody lately and this is my best guess.. cause I'm not gonna be able to go home. At least not for picnic... but if I get it in time.. possibly I'll try to come out for grand river powwow... we'll just see. The problem is not the insurance people.. they are as ready as I am to get this over with... it's the hospital getting the stuff together for the insurance people.. I've called them twice and it's been a hassle just to get copies of the doctors notes ...sigh.

Sorry to hear that Anantas. Are you SNI? Is there another route you could go to get the information?
