Well if you are going to do the diet thing make sure you take a good multi Vitamin and a good Fiber supplement . Otherwise you will likely be a slim inpatient in the hospital!

Well, I agree with the multi-vitamin for sure. Anyways it can't hurt ya, whether ya need it or not.
Water, water, water ... SPRING WATER!!! Ya just gotta drink water, GOOD water. As much as we need air, water is the second most inportant thing to survival. Think about it. We can only last moments without air, only days without water, yet weeks without ANY food. Yet most people think more about food than water or air. Hmmmph!
And exercise ... goes along with getting air! Quite important to survival. Exercise that makes your heart pump, makes ya sweaty and thirsty - oh, by the way - it also increases your metabolism.
'Diet' if you must, but drink water, move, and eat what is good for ya, in moderate amounts.
Good Luck!

I'm ready.. nothing like having a chair break underneath you when you sit to put things in perspective
Well, I like Dr. Phils book. It really puts things into perspective- it's basically saying you need to think about well being in a whole new way, rather than chase after every diet fad out there. You need to tune into what your body is telling you and stuff like that. It also stresses how good you will feel about yourself for taking on the new, better habits.
I got the OK from my doctor today to do the Atkins diet, and he even wished me luck! I went there because I have been feeling bedraggled lately and wanted my blood tested and blood pressure, etc. I also have had tightening in my chest I was pretty worried about, he checked me over and told me it is more than likely stress related because his daughter went through law school as well, and had the same thing. He said it should disappear if I stretch frequently and QUIT SMOKING. Ugghh. He said I should be more concerned with the smoking than the weight. How did I acquire so many bad habits by this age??
Bearcat, thanks for the advice, but I seem to already know all that, just need to put it into practice! Can never have too many reinforcements though LOL :)

Well...I just finished my two week induction part of Atkins. WHEW! I feel great...I haven't felt this good in a long time. I lost 7 pounds, and have about 13 more to go. I finally have adjusted my eating habits to better match the diet. I still cheat with sugar...I just can't pass up a lovely piece of cake...BUT, I have not cheated with huge amounts of carbs. So far, I am really happy with the diet. I haven't gotten too bored with the cuisine yet. Good luck getting started again, Sanj!!!

Well...I'm halfway to my weight loss goal. I've lost 10 pounds and have 10 more to go. I have to admit, though, this diet is tough to stay on. It's great when you are losing the weight, but the temptation to cheat is HUGE! Especially going out to eat. Boy, did I cheat on Tuesday night.....we went out for Italian buffet....talk about some awesome Italian desserts....I tried every single one of them! I'm doing my best to get back on track, but it's a challenge. Any body else doin' a diet right now? How's it going?

She:kon!
Check these folks out. Saw them interviewed on a local TV talk show. No flash, just regular people that found something that makes sense and works. It is not a diet per se, but a change. They are not here for the money, but it doesn't hurt. Most of their site is freebies.

That is a good reference website!
I have one aspect that I don't agree with. I am on a low carb diet and have NEVER felt like I have no energy. Quite the opposite in fact. I have a lot more energy now that I am burning fat and protein more. It probably all depends on your own body chemistry.
I think the answer is balance and exercise. I would imagine every diet could have pros and cons to it. Thanks for the resource!

not exactly dieting myself... just trying to change my eating habits and have lost 9 pounds so far... trying to get myself into an exercise regiment, but damn I"m tired after getting all the stuff I need to do done to want to think about the treadmill.... of course all the running around I'm doing is probably more the reason I lost 10 lbs than actually changing my eating habits. It's funny though, nothing sounds good to eat, only eating cause my stomach is telling me to and thirsty as hell lately (switched to claritin D and I think that's why).

I'm with ya, Bear. I haven't found a way to add exercise into my routine as of yet. One of my barriers is financial. I want to join a YMCA where Cheyenne and I can both go, but no funds to support that right now. Well...that's not entirely true. I do have a membership to a health club, but I just can't seem to get into the routine. I never even went when I lived right next door within walking distance! Just crazy, but eventually I'll find a way....PLUS, I would much rather come home, fix dinner, and settle into doing some beadwork. Ahhhh...I'm such a creature of habit.
Congratulations Denise and Bear on your weight loss! Hopefully I can take those thought with me today.
I have been on a horrible eating binge lately- but I am making better decions which is probably why my binging hasnt resulted in a weight gain. I'll take cereal or a sandwich over pizza, cook without butter, just litle things to help make up for the amounts I have been eating. It's only 1Pm and I have already eaten two bowls of cereal, a lean cuisine dinner and potato chips.
My cousin is getting married tomorrow, and I bought my dress one size too small to force myself to lose- but it didnt work, I only hope I can find the receipt!

Been doing Atkins since August. So far, great results. Sticking to it is not quite as bad as I thought it would be. Went off it for a weekend when my cousin got married last month. Enjoyed the brews that weekend. Not sure how long I'll stay on it..........
